Marchin' On

(Tracy Elliott)
September 15, 2002
I really get tired of all the contradictions in the world of politics. This song is a compilation of all the crap I personally heard during the 2000 election year. It was sickening. So I took my anger and put it in the form of a song and out came marchin on!
Marchin On

The world just keeps pissin' me off with all those left wings those right wings cause I'm just one of those in between, it's always a contradiction of terms
Like the hardcore feminists saying capital punishment is a crime and she spends her days in the rallies and the protests for the cause of murdering babies

She wears her T-shirt showing the world what she stands for. She wears those words in shades of black and white.
She don't even know what it means to her anymore, but she keeps marchin' on

Is it the politics of man or the politics of the people that cause the confusion of thoughts and beliefs like the boy in the hood who reads his Malcolm X?
While at night he fucks the rich white girl and kills his own brothers and mother blames the father who doesn't exist anymore and the boy blames God who put him here today.

He watches the blood dripping from his hands, but he only sees in shades of black and white
And he don't even know what it means to him anymore, but he keeps marchin' on

And the government laughs at their creation of the deadly little disease to get rid of those bad little seeds and they proud of the trigger they allow us to hold
And we stare at the eyes of another or our own not realizing this could be the one who makes that change

A Utopia, a fucking free for all, in a world with no black and white
Cause we don't even know what it means to us anymore
But we keep marchin' on
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on and on and on and on, on, on.
